What we collect
When you use Scout NYC, we collect:
– Your email address
– Your search preferences, such as neighborhoods, budget, bedrooms, must-haves, and building types
– Your interactions with our emails and product, such as opens and clicks
– Account and recommendation metadata, such as match scores and whether we surfaced a likely rent-stabilized building signal
How we use it
We use your information to:
– Send you ranked apartment listings and alerts tailored to your search
– Generate and explain building-level likely rent-stabilized signals using public listing data and public records
– Improve our matching systems, product quality, and operations
– Communicate with you about your account
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. We store billing contact details, purchase records, and the Stripe identifiers needed to support your account, but we do not store full card numbers in Scout NYC.
What we don't do
– We don't sell your data to third parties
– We don't share your email with landlords or brokers
– We don't send spam or promotional emails from partners
Data retention
We keep account data while your account is active and may retain account, recommendation, and email-event records for a period after you unsubscribe to support reactivation, debugging, fraud prevention, and legal or compliance needs. If you want your data deleted, email us at hello@usescoutnyc.com.
